Tunisia. The pottery skills of the women of Sejnane are inscribed in 2018
on UNESCO’S Representative List of The Intangible Cultural Heritage of
Humanity.
A World Through My Eyes
I studied painting, fashion design, and men’s clothing construction. Whenever I can and wherever I go, I collect ceramics, porcelain, baskets, and other items made of rattan and bamboo.
I often travel to destinations outside Greece. I select products from various locations around the world, whether from small communities or workshops that specialize in specific raw materials (clay, rattan, bamboo etc.). I’d like to believe that when you scroll through the IzarKeramics online store and select one of the items, you’re seeing the world through my eyes, just as I see it.
Thank you for understanding that what I offer are products of a slow production process and that they are 100% handmade and of natural materials.

A Connection to Tunisia
Sejnane’s women have a deep knowledge of their land and their
heritage is imprinted in their earthenware we curate. A piece of culture is
a tangible or intangible element that reflects a group’s shared way of
life, such as an artifact, a tradition, or a belief. It can be a physical object
like a tool or a work of art, an everyday object etc. GIE la poterie de
Séjnene are working directly with artisan communities, they help support
local craftsmanship and preserve techniques that have been part of
Tunisia’s cultural identity for generations.
